One thing that never lacked from the derbies between Liverpool and Everton were the goals, and this weekend chances are we’ll witness another memorable game. Both teams come from different results in the Capital One Cup, where Liverpool progressed further and Everton were eliminated by Swansea after failing to score at least a goal thus losing with 3-0.
Liverpool overcame thriller penalty shootout to go through the next round of the Capital One Cup, but for the next league match, Brendan Rodgers has to bring back his first team players and oversee that another defeat is off the cards. The Reds are adjusting to the life post Suarez and with Balotelli they hope to make the defeats to Aston Villa, and recently to West Ham long forgotten. Their problems in the defense are to be compensated by Sterling in great form, and until Sturridge regains fitness to play or Steven Gerrard his last year’s form, the Reds are left to hope Mignolet will at least be in one of his ok days.
Besides Steven Gerrard and Sturridge, Liverpool might have lost Coutinho and Henderson whose injuries are still to be assessed, but it is still unlikely they will be left to start in this Saturday’s match. Everton is not faring better either since they only have 5 points out of four matches, but they did manage to win against West Ham. Ross Barkley still does not have a return date set, but Roberto Martinez stated that: “He’s a few weeks away from being fully fit.”
Against Swansea Everton started with Eto’o, but ended up subbing him off for Lukaku, who made his presence known in the attack, but it wasn’t enough for at least a goal. An outright Liverpool win is at 1.77 with 888sport, Everton to win at 4.50 and a draw between the two sides at 3.75.
