The match between Aston Villa and Arsenal from the English Premier League ended in a fade 0-0 draw. No team managed to remark itself by scoring at least one goal. This result also made me lose the bet I placed on Arsenal’s victory.
Paul Lambert might have desired to receive a one-match stadium ban rather than a touchline, after such dismal stalemate. However, Arsène Wenger has plenty of reasons to remember this encounter for a longer period of time from now on. He was the subject of frequent criticism during the second half of the match, especially when he brought Francis Coquelin to the field instead of Olivier Giround in the 86th minute.
Here you have a video with the summary of the match:
The fans also got angry when Jack Wilshere was left on the bench. The Wenger’s team only managed one shot on target, and Arsenal will remain on the 6th place. Unfortunately, this position is too far adrift to hope for a first league title, a title that they haven’t won since 2004.
On the other hand, for Aston Villa one point was enough to lift themselves out of the relegation zone, and above Reading.
All in all, the result of this match was very disappointing for everyone, but especially for Arsenal who have missed the chance to win the title this season.
