The match between Aston Villa and West Ham ended just the way I have predicted: in a neat victory of Aston Villa over West Ham. This means that I won the bet I placed on Aston Villa’s victory.
More precisely, the score was 2-1 for Aston Villa. Benteke and N’Zogbia were the ones who scored the two winning goals for Villa, in the minutes 74 and 79, respectively. On the other hand, Ashley Westwood from West Ham United brought his team a goal in the 87th minute of the match.
For West Ham, this was another depressing away game and Sam Allardyce admitted there is too much reliance on their solidity at Upton Park. They have lost their last five matches on their travels and even if they dominated the second half, there were times when they might have been more comfortable if the referee, Mark Clattenburg, had given them an oval-shaped ball to play with instead of a round one.
West Ham were very poor in the first half of the match. They gave a first start to Emanuel Pogatetz in defense, after beginning with an unfamiliar 5-3-2 formation.
All in all, I think the match was quite uncomfortable for West Ham, who were unable to remain focused and keep a balance, even if the second half was looking far more promising than the first one.
Result: +8.15 units, bet won
