On 13th October, in the Atahualpa olympic stadium in Quito, Ecuador, the match between Ecuador and Chile took place. The former was predicted to have a 56,5 % chance of winning the game, so the victory was not such a surprise for Ecuador’s supporters. The victory of Ecuador also made me win the bet I made.
Here you have a video with the summary of the match:
Although at first some might have thought that Chile was going to win, due to the fact it was the team that scored first in the 25th minute. Juan Carlos Paredes was Chile’s player that managed to get past the goalkeeper and give his team the hope of victory. But that goal enabled Ecuador’s players and in the 33rd minute they tied the score. Felipe Caicedo was the star of the ecuadorian team and after scoring the first goal for his team he managed to score another one in the 57th minute. Segundo Alejandro Castillo was the player that took all the hope from the Chile’s team, scoring in the overtime at 90+3 minutes. The battle between the two teams was for the World Cup Qualifications – South America and it seems that only Ecuador is going to move up in the ranking, having now 16 points and being just 1 point behind the leader, Argentina that has 17 points.
