It was a one man show in London as Liverpool managed to come from behind a goal and win with 3-1 in a match against Fulham. Considering Luis Suarez was suspended, some were worried there won’t be anyone to carry the game on their shoulders. Liverpool fans were sure that it was Daniel’s Sturridge time to shine, and he didn’t disappoint, managing to score a hat-trick after his team was led for several minutes.
Dimitar Berbatov opened the parade of goals on the thirty third minute with an all-too-easy header shot coming from a cross. The goal looked rather anticlimactic, seeing as for the first 30 minutes Liverpool had magnificent pressure on Fulham with little to no space to breathe. Sturridge was the one to challenge the potential outcome of the game and his first goal came after a shot into the right corner of the net.
In the second half Fulham requested a penalty shot, but the referee didn’t budge and Liverpool came back to their pressing game, which didn’t help too much as the hosts had the majority of ball possession. Coutinho was the one who contributed to Sturridge’s second goal, and here is where Liverpool could have stopped, but the Coutinho/Sturiddge duet struck again five minutes before the end of the game and brought a glorious victory to the Reds.
Brendan Rogers’ team can’t win European glory next season, but at least they end the season in really good shape. The manager had mostly praises for Daniel Sturridge saying that although he still has a lot to learn, “Daniel was outstanding, he scored three goals, he could maybe have had six. He’s made a great start to his career.”
