FC Porto defeated Dinamo Zagreb with a 3-0 score in the Champions League this Wednesday, setting up a decider with Paris Saint-Germain in two weeks for the top spot in Group A. This also means that I won the bet I made on Porto, the leader of the group.
Undefeated so far, Porto have 13 points to 12, occupying the second place in the group. Lucho Gonzales, unmarked in the Dinamo area, scored his second goal in the tournament after 20 minutes of play. João Moutinho scored in the 67th minute, and Silvestre Varela sealed the victory five minutes from the end.
The two-time European champion, Porto, was untroubled in an uneventful encounter with Dinamo, extending its winless streak in the tournament to 11 games. Dinamo almost managed to score their first goal and get their first points of the season in the 13th minute of the match, when the effort of Sammir was bounced back off Helton’s far post. Ivan Peko and Domagoj Vida also came close just before halftime. Eventually, the goalkeeper of Dinamo, Ivan Kevala, was the one who prevented a bigger loss by defending Jackson Martinez’s and Varela’s attempts.
All in all, Porto was always likely winner of this match from the beginning and all they had to do was to prove it.
Result: +3.6 units, bet won
