The match that took place last Saturday between Western Sydeney and Wanderers Phoenix ended in a 2-0 victory for Wanderers. This means that I lost the bet I made on Over 2.5 goals.
Judging by the latest results of each team, I was expecting a more dramatic match, but as far as I have seen, none team was determined enough to provide spectacular moments. The first goal of the match came after 71 minutes, when the defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley managed to break the deadlock. While Phoenix was unable to clear from a corner, Topor-Stanley found himself in a perfect position to capitalize.
Here you have a video with the summary of the match:
Even after Wanderers took the lead, Western Sydney didn’t even simulate any intention of establishing the balance on the scoring table. Moreover, apart from not bothering to try an offensive attack, the players from Western Sydney had a terrible defensive too. This being said and done, it didn’t take too long until Wanderers scored again in the 82nd minute of the game, when Labinot Haliti doubled Wanderers’ advantage by scoring comfortably after a horror mix-up at the back from Ben Sigmund.
All in all, it was an easy and deserved victory for Wanderers Phoenix and a quite embarrassing day for Western Sydney.
