Even if I lost the bet I placed last week on Wolfsburg’s victory at Bwin, I can’t deny the fact that in the match between Wolfsburg and Nürnberg some great goals have been scored. Dieter Hecking‘s team jumped out to an early lead, but they were obliged to hold on to preserve a 2-2 draw against the manager of the former clu b. Wolfsburg broke the deadlock within only two minutes from the start. Diego was fouled at the top of the penalty area, and had to step up to take the free kick. After that, his attempt over the wall and into the near corner succeeded to go past Raphael Schäfer and bring the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Just before the end of the first half, Ivica Olic doubled the lead with an impressive curling effort from the distance, managing to strike the side netting. This was the first goal scored by the Croatian for Wolfsburg in five consecutive games.
Timmy Simons got Nürnberg right back into the game with an astonishing volley which Diego Benaglio wasn’t able to save. After five minutes, Per Nilsson got on the end of the free kick of Hiroshi Kiyotake. Diego had a chance to end the game the way he started it, but his free kick was off target.
With this result, Nürnberg and Wolfsburg are further away from the relegation zone, and at the moment both teams are safe from relegation.
