3 Super weird endurance events

You have read many crazy stories from the world of sports here, and today it will be no different! And today we will take a look at some strange endurance competitions worldwide.

Danceathons

During the 1920s and 1930s in the USA, dance marathons became a craze. The rules say that as long as one partner was still standing (and dancing), the pair was still in the contest. This led to some bizarre images where a man swings his unconscious partner around to stay in the game. For those who could not find a partner willing to dance with them, there are individual dancing records. The current champion is Bandana Nepal, who danced for 126 hours straight.

Cold Endurance

In 2014, Jin Songhao set the world record for the longest time in direct contact with ice. For 1 hour, 53 minutes, and 10 seconds, he sat in a box, and buckets of ice cubes were poured down on him. His record for being submerged in ice was broken in 2019 by Josef Koeberl, who lasted 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 47 seconds in a box of ice wearing nothing but a bathing suit. The greatest cold champion, however, is Wim Hof, who is able to raise his body temperature and withstand freezing conditions. Hof holds records for the longest swim under ice and running a half-marathon in the Arctic Circle barefoot.

Pipe Smoking

In slow smoking contests, contestants receive a set amount of tobacco, and the challenge is to make it last as long as possible. Intricate rules were drawn up for such events. Participants are told that they “may remove the mouthpiece from the pipe for a few seconds during the competition in order to get any liquid out of it by knocking it on the sheet of paper or by blowing through it.” But they can’t blow into the bowl of the pipe through the nose, that is an instant disqualification. That was weird, wasn’t it? And here is one last tip from us to you: If you want to make the best of your betting life, make sure to check out the best betting agent, and enjoy it to the max.
