The Premier League, which organizes the English Championship, announced on Thursday the postponement of two games of the competition: Liverpool-Leeds and Wolverhampton-Watford, which were scheduled for next Sunday, December 26.

The matches on this date are traditionally called “Boxing Day”. The matches will have to be rescheduled because of outbreaks of Covid-19 in the visiting teams.

” The league is aware that this decision to postpone games will disappoint fans and understands the frustration at this special time of year when fans are looking forward to games. The Premier League tries to be clear, but unfortunately, postponements can occur at short notice as safety is a priority,” the league stated.

Leeds will have to shut down for two days as they do not have enough players to face Liverpool, as will Watford. Earlier, Liverpool captain Henderson criticized the Premier League for not stopping the competition. While the matches are not rescheduled, follow our news section for more updates on this story.
