This was probably the most infamous moment in boxing history. Holyfield and Tyson got back into the ring for a rematch in June of 1997, after Holyfield had knocked out Tyson the previous year. In the third round, Tyson, angry by what he saw as Holyfield’s use of illegal headbutts, bit down and ripped off a piece of Evander’s ear.
He was disqualified and almost started a brawl with security. This even was so iconic that even chocolate shaped ears were sold later on.
Rodman was always polemic. He used to wear a wedding dress to promote his autobiography and once smashed into a cliff wall after a stunt. Something else, however, takes the cake: His visits to the state of North Korea. There, Rodman formed a weird friendship with reclusive, evil dictator Kim Jong Un. Rodman has called the despot “a great dad” and “a friend for life”.
He received widespread condemnation after suggesting that the political prisoner Kenneth Bae was responsible for his own unjust imprisonment. The U.S. Treasury Department is reportedly conducted investigations into whether Rodman violated international sanctions by bringing Kim gifts.
